John Fox and the Chicago Bears are moving on from each other in a move that everyone expected.

It is one of the least surprising pieces of news that will break in all of 2018. Just hours into the new year, the Chicago Bears have informed head coach John Fox that they will not bring him back for the 2018 campaign. Official word is that the two have parted ways.

This firing could have been seen almost the minute the team drafted Mitchell Trubisky. Reports had come out that Fox was not in the loop when the team made that trade. That was a Ryan Pace, and one that Fox did not sign off on. Starring a season on that wobbly of a standing, you knew it was not going to be a long stay.

However, Fox went into the preseason assuming Mike Glennon was not just the starter but was the future. He was either out of touch or stubborn, either was bad for his chances of sticking around.

The loss as a home favorite to the Green Bay Packers sealed his fate. Fox was 3-15 against his division and finished this year 0-6.

Fox struggled to adjust in games, he was ultra conservative and made terrible challenge decisions. However, at the same time, the team is better now than where he got them. They have an identity, they have a quarterback, and the defense is almost completely fixed. Maybe Fox needed to dig this team out of the dirt. Now, it is on someone else to rise it off of the ground.
