The Chicago Bears offensive coordinator accepted a position as the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator

In news that really is not too surprising when you think about, Dowell Loggains has willfully left the Chicago Bears to be a member of the Miami Dolphins coaching staff. He will retain his same title as offensive coordinator.

This is no surprise given the climate in Chicago. Loggains was hired by John Fox. He served for one season as a quarterbacks coach behind Adam Gase in Chicago. When the team interviewed Vic Fangio, and did not interview him he knew his days were limited.

The Bears were set to either hire an offensive mind, who would bring in his own staff, or promote Fangio, and try to lure in a big name offensive coordinator to run the show while Fangio held down the defense. Neither plan sees Loggains fitting in.

Loggains did what was smart and called up his buddy Gase. Gase, who just so happened to need an offensive coordinator saw Loggains as the perfect fit. Ryan Pace does not have to do the obvious, and Loggains gets to leave with pride to a situation that is better for him with familiar faces. It is a good situation for both sides.

The only question is if Fangio would have kept Loggains if he was promoted? The answer now is obviously no, but maybe Fangio sensed the team was moving on from him and told Loggains to get out while he could. Perhaps news of Fangio signing elsewhere could break in the coming days as well.
