Ryan Pace is hinging his career on Matt Nagy. Matt Nagy is hinging his career on Mitchell Trubisky

The entire focus from the hire of Matt Nagy seems to be centered around Mitchell Trubisky. While the team did not directly involve Mitchell Trubisky during the hiring process, they clearly had his best intentions in mind. One of the moments that helped seal the deal was Nagy’s pre draft notes on Trubisky.

In fact, the Kansas City Chiefs tried to trade up for Trubisky before trying to trade up for Patrick Mahomes. You could see how close the two were when they met each other.  Knowing that Trubisky was not in that interview with Nagy, it is clear their past relationship is strong.

On top of all of that, the Indianapolis Colts job, and Andrew Luck was sitting on the table. But he chose Mitchell Trubisky.

Chris Ballard, the Indianapolis Colts General Manager worked with the Kansas City Chiefs for four seasons working with Nagy. The two had a relationship, and Nagy had mentioned he was a hard person to say no to.

Yes, Andrew Luck has a serious shoulder injury. Could Ballard have been bluntly honest with Nagy, and told him he was unsure of Luck? Possibly. Still, the most likely happenings is that he said Luck was progressing fine, which is what is being reported to the media. After a full year of surgeries, it seems like Luck should be back next season.

Does Nagy lack that much trust in Ballard and Luck? Is it solely health related? Or does he have that much faith in Mitchell Trubisky? Whichever way is true, Nagy will always look back on that decision, as it likely will decide his image as a coach moving forward.
