Chicago Bears Stay or Go: Sherrick McManis
Should the Chicago Bears extend Sherrick McManis, or let him walk?
Sherrick McManis has been on the team for six seasons. He has outlived three head coaches and two General Managers. Can survive again through the departure of John Fox?
Stay
McManis has had one job for six years and he has done it well. He is a core special teams player through and through. As a gunner, he is terrific at staying lane discipline and then finding the ball and making plays. There is a reason he has five NFL starts but is entering year nine in his career. This is what he does. Every team needs a special teamer no matter how stacked the depth chart. The fact that he is better at this than others gives him a great chance to be back. There is no reason to get rid of something that works, and Sherrick McManis playing special teams for the Chicago Bears has worked.

The Bears have added so much to the secondary over the past couple of seasons. They really cannot turn any of them into special teamers? Isn’t that a calling card of Deiondre’ Hall and DeAndre Houston-Carson? These players cannot beat out the 30-year old on special teams? It just seems tough to believe. The Bears either have an issue that these players are complete whiffs, or they have to finally get rid of Sherrick McManis and give his roster spot to a secondary player with upside. It was a great run, but four head coaches is enough. It is time to move on from Sherrick McManis.
