How He Fits on the Bears

The Bears have two solid players at the running back position in Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen and they aren’t going anywhere. Then they have Bennie Cunningham whose contract is over when free agency starts. Right now, we have no idea if he is going to be resigned or not. Then you have Taquan Mizzell, a relative unknown who may or may not even make it past the start of free agency.

Of course, everyone will say that getting a running back is a no-go because the Bears already have two decent running backs. And by no means should the Bears go out of their way to draft Barkley by trading up to get him. Instead, should he fall to number eight in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Bears should consider taking him. Yes, they have other needs but if he were there, he would be the best player in the draft at that point.

Should the Bears’ grab Barkley, Chicago’s running game could be the best in the league. You have Howard for those tough yards in the middle and Cohen for those special plays and third down opportunities. Then you would have Barkley for everything else. He could quickly work his way into a rotation and develop into a multi-faceted playmaker.

But Chicago will have their sights set on other positions. However, they still may not be able to resist if Barkley is there at number eight. Imagine how powerful Chicago’s already powerful rushing attack would be?

But it’s unlikely they would take Barkley.
