Chicago Bears Free Agent Review 2017: Kendall Wright
The Chicago Bears signed Kendall Wright to a one-year, $2-million dollar contract last offseason. Was it worth it?
Much like this year, the Bears had a lot of holes to fill at the Wide Receiver position this offseason. Kendall Wright did a good job performing with his one-year “prove it” type deal. While Kendall Wright isn’t a game breaker type, he is still a very solid option. If Wright gets re-signed by the Bears he will likely be the third or fourth option this upcoming season.
2017 Review
Wright caught 59 passes for 614 yards and one touchdown. While those numbers aren’t exactly eye popping, we have to remember the offense that the Bears were running last year wasn’t exactly the high flying type. Wright did prove himself to be a reliable target even with the offensive struggles. The passing game was constantly crippled all year with the predictable play calling and lack of creativity and mid game adjustments.

Did he exceed expectations?
While you could not necessarily say no he did not exceed expectations, it is fair will say that he did live up to them. While he did not outperform expectations when he was signed, he did prove to be a nice addition and a reliable starter. However based off Nagy’s time in Kansas City, he loved using fast WR’s on offense, so it will be interesting to see if Nagy decides to bring back Wright or if he decides to move on. We should get an answer in the very near future.
