A fit for Chicago Bears
On one hand, he is a red zone threat, which the team lacked last season. On top of that, his jump ball ability gives Mitchell Trubisky a complete bail out option, and it could turn Ateman into a relied on late down threat.
However, on the other, the Chicago Bears biggest issue last season was lack of separation from their wide receivers. They are looking for players to strike fear into safeties. While Ateman may bring fear in terms of bringing home the contested catch, the secondary remains confident that be stepping in on Ateman that he will not be getting space on them deep.

while Mitchell Trubisky did not have a high completion percentage, he did prove to be reliably accurate last season. Does adding the accuracy erasing of Ateman make him of little to no use for Trubisky, or does Trubisky take comfort and knowing that if he puts a ball in a spot that Ateman will come down with it?
Ateman is projected to go in the middle rounds and could be an intriguing option depending on what else has been addressed in prior rounds.
