Is John Fox’s next stop the broadcasting booth?

Fox Sports is always looking to add to its roster. Last year they were all set to give Jay Cutler the number two analyst role with Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis, that is, of course, until Cutler decided to give it another go with the Miami Dolphins.

Whether Cutler decides to go back into the booth or stay on the football field is anybody’s guess, but Fox is still looking for new talent to add to their pool. Apparently, Fox is looking at two new potential analysts to add to either their game broadcasts or as studio analysts. One of them is Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas.

Thomas missed a large part of last season with an injury and has started to be more opinionated on Twitter and do some more media appearances. It seems Thomas is leaning towards coming back and playing again, but he has also considered retirement. If he does retire, whether that be this year or next year, broadcasting could be a very sensible option for him.

The other person Fox looked at for a broadcasting job is former Chicago Bears’ head coach John Fox.

Brinson is a senior writer for CBS Sports. It appears that Brinson screen grabbed something he was reading and posted it as a jpg to his Twitter account. There isn’t any indication as to what this source is from Brinson, but it’s a pretty good bet it’s reliable if Brinson was comfortable enough to Tweet it out.

Fox never came across as media-friendly during his days in Chicago, however, he was always considered quite media-friendly at both his coaching stops in Denver and Carolina. Fox is pretty easy-going with a good personality and could be a fit in some capacity with Fox.  Whether Fox is auditioning for a game analyst role or a studio analyst role (perhaps even on FS1) as anybody’s guess and something that not even Fox Sports probably knows at this point.

Jay Glazer spoke with WGN and said that Fox has received coaching offers from other teams and he’s currently mulling them over. With the broadcasting option potentially another avenue that Fox could go down, he’s clearly taken the last couple months to get over a rough finish to his days in Chicago and is now ready to look ahead to his next chapter.
