Xavier Rhodes Minnesota Vikings
The upside that Carlton Davis brings is enormous, like Rhodes. The fact of the matter is that his feet can be worked on, but his instincts and understanding is what can make up for that deficiency. It may take some time to work out a few of the kinks, and he will never be a perfect cornerback. However, the ability to press at the line of scrimmage, and drop into zone and read the quarterback from there to break on the ball is going to find success.
This is how Xavier Rhodes is able to be so successful. He is best in being able to shut down a portion of the field to the outside and press heavy. Being able to shift a safety deep is the value he brings. While he is not great in the short passing game and can find himself beat in man by a superior route runner, his length and ability is going to be worth the bet. Davis has the length and understanding to make pass break ups. That is going to be valuable in the NFL.
