Jarvis Landry traded to the Cleveland Browns, no longer an option for Ryan Pace and the Bears.

Jarvis Landry is on the move. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for a pair of draft picks.

Landry had been linked to the Chicago Bears in Indianapolis. There were even some rumors that the Bears were even shopping Jordan Howard to try to lure Landry to Chicago. However, those rumors got quiet quickly and there hasn’t been any buzz about Landry to the Bears at all over the last few days.

Ryan Pace absolutely wants to land a significant upgrade at the wide receiver position. He can definitely land the likes of Albert Wilson or maybe a Paul Richardson (or maybe both), but is that enough to upgrade a unit that was arguably the worst in the NFL?

With Landry off the market, the only other big fish remaining at receiver is Allen Robinson. The Bears have been linked to Robinson. Brad Biggs said the Bears have made Robinson their number one target this offseason. They know how important he is to the future of the franchise, and now with Landry off the market, the pressure to land someone like Robinson mounts. Landry is no longer available as a consolation prize.

Next week is shaping up to be the most important week in the history of Pace’s tenure as Bears’ GM. He needs to make a major splash and find upgrades at multiple positions, and the way free agency is structured, he only has a couple of days to do it.

Landry is officially off the market, some Bears’ fans will be upset, while other will be relieved, but it’s pretty clear now that Robinson must become the Bears’ focal point and Pace must succeed in landing his number one target.
