Albert Wilson is no longer an option for the Chicago Bears as he appears headed to the Miami Dolphins.

Albert Wilson was a popular choice to become the next slot receiver for the Chicago Bears. It made too much sense. He was a perfect fit for the Bears needs at the receiver position and with former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy taking over as head coach, he knows the offense the Bears are about to install and run.

As the NFL combine concluded and the Bears were nearing free agency, it seemed like a slam dunk that Wilson was going to sign with Chicago. But, in the end, money talks.

While this was a great fit for the Bears, this is a ton of money for Wilson. He was going to be the fourth or fifth option as part of the Bears passing offense, they simply can’t pay that type of price for a slot receiver that, while he would be quite valuable to the offense, the team just couldn’t simply justify how much Miami was willing to pay him.

With the Allen Robinson news breaking late last night, the Bears are clearly ready to start making some news throughout the day. The Wilson news is disappointing for sure, but you can expect the Bears to be active still searching for a slot receiver and finding another pass-catching tight end (Trey Burton has been mentioned).

Wilson isn’t a miss for Pace, he simply was outbid by another team and he wisely stepped aside. Pace will sign more impact free agents, it just won’t be the former Chief.
