Chicago Bears re-sign Prince Amukamara
The Chicago Bears continue to win the early stages of free agency as they retain cornerback Prince Amukamara
All offseason many questioned the cornerback situation. Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara were both free agents and if the recent trend of Chicago football had any say, they were both going to leave.
However, the team currently has a tag on Fuller, and has now announced that they are bringing back Amukamara for another season as well.
The complete terms of the deal has not been announced, but given the tone, it cannot be a terribly longterm commitment. The Bears will now be committed to bringing back Fuller to a longer term deal and moving forward with a reliable set of cornerbacks who will be playing with continuity.

There were some who saw Amukamara as the better cornerback than Fuller last one. One thing is for sure, early into the season, teams were testing Fuller much more than Amukamara. He developed some respect on his side of the field, and with the continuity at not only corner, but also safety, the secondary should be in good position.
This makes the Bears drafting a cornerback a completely different question. The fact that the team is currently not committed long term does keep cornerback on the table during the draft. However, it will be tough to take one in the top ten with a potential starter at another position sitting there as well. The team could take one in the second or even a middle round pick, but there appear to be other options in the draft.
The Bears placed a tender on Bryce Callahan, but there are teams interested. It will be interesting to see if the team can completely lock down their secondary with the signing of Callahan as well.
