Otis Wilson played opposite Wilber Marshall as the other outside linebacker during the Bears’ dominance in the mid-1980s.
Wilson was never quite as good as Marshall at their peak, but he played with the Bears longer and had more of an impact over that time. He perfected his craft as a pass rusher in the mid-1980s, tallying 31.5 sacks over a four-year stretch.
Wilson only earned one Pro Bowl spot and was Second-Team All-Pro that season (1985), but he was still a very good player for several other seasons. He became a leader on that Bears’ defense for several years.
As the Bears defense began to age, so did Wilson. Wilson struggled with injuries in 1987 and missed the entire 1988 season. Wilson signed with the then-Los Angeles Raiders in 1989 and played one final game before calling it quits.
