Clyde 'Bulldog' Turner. 8. player. 57. . C/LB. Hardin-Simmons Cowboys, 1940 (No. 7)

Clyde “Bulldog” Turner is the first of the throwbacks on this list. Everyone on this list so far was selected no earlier than the 1980 NFL Draft, but Turner we roll all the way back to 1940 when George Halas made him the No. 7 overall pick of the draft.

As a rookie, Turner started at center and was a key member of the team that buried the Washington Redskins 73-0 in the NFL title game. Turner also started at linebacker that season and had an interception for a touchdown during the championship game.

Turner was largely known as a center on offense, but also dabbled at tackle and played linebacker on defense. He played 13 seasons with the Bears and was named First-Team All-Pro on eight different occasions. He helped the Bears to four NFL Championships during his career.

Despite being more known as an offensive lineman, he actually led the NFL in interceptions in 1942. No surprise, he was named to the NFL 1940s All-Decade Team. His No. 66 has been retired by the Bears organization.
