Chicago Bears: NFL Draft Round 2: 5 Names to Watch at 39
3. Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU
The Bears spent money on plenty of pass-catching options for Mitch Trubisky, but when you are starting with basically none, you need to get as many as possible. While Ryan Pace might be inclined to wait on a wide receiver until his fourth-round pick (there still should be quality options there), if someone who is of Sutton’s quality is sitting there at 39 that will be tough to pass up.
Sutton is exactly what the Bears need- a reliable receiver. He is the perfect Robin to Allen Robinson’s Batman. He has great hands and is a wonderful size of a target. He could become a very solid possession receiver in Nagy’s offense. With Allen Robinson becoming the top target and Taylor Gabriel becoming the team’s playmaker along with Tarik Cohen, Sutton could become one of Mitch Trubisky’s favorite third down and red zone targets to go along with Trey Burton.
