The Chicago Bears traded up for wide receiver Anthony Miller. Was it worth the price of trading up?

The Chicago Bears are here to compete and they do not care if you are doubting them. They have always been known to be aggressive in the draft and the 2018 NFL draft is no different. The team shipped off a 2019 second round pick to move up to pick 51 to take a wide receiver, Anthony Miller. How does it grade out?

Need?

The Chicago Bears added two wide receivers. The Chicago Bears still really needed a wide receiver. After letting Cameron Meredith walk, the team was down to relying on Kevin White again as a rotational wide receiver. No team can rely on Kevin White anymore.

Value?

You can argue about whether or not he would be worth the second round pick in 2019 AND a second-round pick in 2018. That is a tough call. However, one thing is for sure about his selection. The Bears are ready to win now. Miller is an older, developed prospect. He slid because of his ceiling, but he is getting on the field next season and making plays. For that, you have to commend the Bears in terms of value. That is an immediate starter in round two.

Player?

Anthony Miller is 23. His college success should be expected. However, something can be said about this kid playing with a chip on his shoulder. So he took a slower route to the NFL. You can see traits that translate, even if he is beating up on 19-year old cornerbacks. He is a polished route runner, with sideline recognitions and body fluidity. He is a grinder, and wrote a great players tribune detailing what he will bring to the table. He is the type of kid you bet on and with the instant starter impact, he expresses a win now attitude.

Maybe a future second is aggressive, but it is still a strong pick.
