Harry Hiestand also brings the Notre Dame connection. He had his players face Trumbetti in the trenches every day. He knows what can bring to the trenches. Trumbetti is a player who flew under the radar throughout the process. NFL.com did not have a draft profile and many anticipated that he would go undrafted. It seems as though from all of these picks. he may have the least chance of sticking around.
Still, this is a position of need so investing heavily in it is a very smart method. Kylie Fitts has a high ceiling, but was a late round pick because of his injury issues. Without depth at this position, they are going to struggle.
Here are his stats
As you can see, not a high upside sack guy, but he can bang in the trenches. He can slide inside on passing downs if needed.
Here are some clips of Andrew Trumbetti vs. Texas in 2016
He is a run stuffer. He is not a high profile athlete. However, he is a workhorse. The Chicago Bears obviously see enough in Andrew Trumbetti to bring him to training camp. While it may be tough to envision him lasting much longer, he can try to prove us wrong from there.
