Over the weekend of rookie mini camp, the Chicago Bears signed five tryout players to head to OTAs with the 90-man roster

The Chicago Bears held their rookie mini camp and got to see who was able to pick things up, and who may not be cut out for the NFL.

The team announced that five try out players would be kept on for OTA’s next week. They also waived four players, including three of their initial UDFAs.

Matt Fleming is a name to watch as a Division III player. He was a player Matt Nagy called out by name as to having a good week of practice. Fleming is a former track star.

Some may know John Franklin as a player from the series “Last Chance U” Tyrin Holloway is a bigger defensive back from Western Illinois. Hall was a first team All-AAC performer at guard, so he may be worth looking into. Matt McCants is a former sixth round pick by the Giants who has never caught onto a roster.

In Averill, they had a former tackle from Boise State looking to move inside. The same thing could be said of Cameron Lee, who is a tackle from Western Illinois. The team obviously saw more out of Hall and McCants.

The interesting releases were Nyles Morgan and Howard Jones. Morgan was supposed to come in with special teams capabilities and was a former high school prized recruit. However, it seems clear picking things up quick is not a thing for him.

In Jones, they are cutting an experienced edge rusher. That is not something they have much of. They signed four edge rushers in the UDFA class and added Kylie Fitts, so clearly those five had a good weekend.
