Many have questioned what the signing of Trey Burton means for Adam Shaheen. Matt Nagy made sure to address that Shaheen is a great fit

The buzz of this Chicago Bears season is unlike any in the past few years. Things have actually gone right so far this offseason. The team has made upgrades, has a new coach in Matt Nagy, and a new feeling of life.

The positive momentum kept going when head coach Matt Nagy was asked his thoughts on tight end Adam Shaheen. After the team signed Trey Burton, questions arose as to whether or not this meant lack of faith in Shaheen. Nagy had an answer.

"“He’s bigger than I originally thought he was,” Nagy said. “And then his catching radius — I’d probably put in the same category. He has very natural hands. He’s a guy that fits our offense very well and so now it’s a matter of how fast is he going to learn it and just figure out the details and just the ins-and-outs of the different routes we run.”"

Matt Nagy sees Adam Shaheen as a player who fits the offense very well. This should come as no surprise. We highlighted the day the team signed Trey Burton that Burton was the perfect complement to a player such as Shaheen.

The two will bounce their diverse skills off of each other to build a well rounded tight end room. Of course, Shaheen does still have work to do.

This is year two of his NFL career, and he is a player without a strong football background. Add in that this will be his second new offense, and Shaheen does have a lot of work to do.

He will have to prove he knows the offense and all of the dynamics that surround it. However, if he can do that, the team is going to be very happy with that they found in Adam Shaheen next season.
