Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan said he is ready to open his arms to new teammate Roquan Smith
It usually happens with quarterbacks more than other positions, but everyone is always wondering how the veteran handles seeing his position drafted high.
Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph are under the microscope and Joe Flacco has yet to reach out to Lamar Jackson.
Fortunately for the Chicago Bears, their top ten pick is being received well by Danny Trevathan, a linebacker who likely will not outlive the Smith era.
When asked about how he feels about a younger, higher upside linebacker coming in Trevathan handled it the way a pro should.
"“I’m going to help as much as I can,” Trevathan said. “That’s my job here as a leader on this defense. He’s a guy that works his tail off, so it shouldn’t be hard to give him little details about anything. Anything he needs help with, I’m right here to help him with.”"

playing beside each other like Trevathan and Smith will. Of course Trevathan wants Smith to be better. The better Smith looks, the better Trevathan looks because the duo is shutting off the middle of the field.
Still, it is nice to hear that Trevathan is embracing a role as a leader of this team. With Joel Iyiegbuniwe added as well, there is a lot of youth in Chicago right now.
You should expect Trevathan to help Iggy as much as Smith. This is a team in need of a veteran voice as it becomes to find an identity. Trevathan being there to bring up the youth and watch them find themselves is a commendable job.
