Chicago Bears defense beating up on offense at OTAs
To the surprise of no one, Vic Fangio has his defense in regular season mode this offseason
Everyone wants to talk about the Chicago Bears offense. The revamping, the potential breakouts of Mitchell Trubisky, Tarik Cohen, and Adam Shaheen on top of all of the other personnel additions. It makes sense.
However, Vic Fangio is here to tell us not to forget about his defense. His defense is not getting the press right now because we already know what we are in store for. Fangio is experienced in Chicago now. He is bringing back almost every starter.
So, when reports come out that Trubisky and the offense are struggling to get things going against the experienced Fangio defense, we should not freak out.
Trubisky was asked about the units struggles. While he understood why it was worth talking about, his quotes are very positive and show that he has a strong understanding at this point in his career.
"“Yeah, it is what it is,” he said. “We kind of expect that with coach Fangio being here in the past and having a lot of returns back on defense. But it’s good for us. It’s just gonna make us better on offense. And as a competitor you take that to heart and come out here and compete in every single drill. But at the end of the day, we’re brothers. We’re family. … Iron sharpens iron. But we need to know we’re in this together.”"
This is more of a post to praise Trubisky than bash him for struggling against the better unit at this point in time. He knows that. I know that. You better know that.

Still, his mentality about getting his butt kicked by someone better really is inspiring. He wants them to kick his butt. He wants them to do their worst.
Then, he wants to grow from it. Everything Mitchell Trubisky has done off of the field so far this offseason is everything you want Mitchell Trubisky to be doing off of the field. This really could be a year worth getting excited about the offense.
