Bleacher Report rated Aaron Lynch as the Chicago Bears biggest risk entering the 2018 season

Bleacher Report has been doing some league wide lists in this offseason to keep discussion moving. Recently, they rated the biggest risk for each team entering the 2018 season. The Chicago Bears biggest risk entering the season should not be a huge surprise.

The site selected “Banking on Aaron Lynch” as the teams biggest risk. Anyone who is following the team is nodding their head in agreement with this sentiment.

Entering the offseason, the team had a question as to who would be starting across from Leonard Floyd. While they did throw some resources at the spot, it is still very clearly the biggest weakness on the roster.

Sam Acho returns. However, with that comes the idea that we all know who Sam Acho is. Plays special teams, can give you rotational snaps. That is valuable in the NFL. Except when you ask him to step across from Leonard Floyd.

The Chicago Bears invested draft resources in the outside linebacker position. However, that did not come until round 6, when they  selected the oft-injured pass rusher Kylie Fitts.

Still, an oft-injured sixth round rookie is not an answer across from Leonard Floyd. While Isaiah Irving could be a sleeper, the team is banking on Aaron Lynch in 2018.

That is bold, there is no doubt about it. Lynch has injury questions, he has health questions and he even has some upside questions.

He is back with Vic Fangio, the only defensive coordinator to get a strong season out of Lynch. At the very least he should be a run stuffing threat when he is on the field.

However, to go into the season with Lynch as a relied on starter is asking for trouble. I know it, you know it, Bleacher Report knows it.
