When you hear Bears fans talk about what the team needs, you almost always hear someone say they need more depth at cornerback. While any team could use more solid CBs in today’s pass-happy league, when Bears fans talk about their secondary, they never seem to support Bryce Callahan.

Callahan does have durability concerns as he has missed plenty of time over the last couple years due to injury, but the Callahan hate goes much further than that. Bears’ fans want him off the field, and it’s confusing as to why.

Many Bears’ fans fail to realize that Callahan has developed into one of the top slot corners in the NFL. His coverage is solid, he plays well when used in blitz packages, he will come up and challenge in the running game, and we are now seeing him make better plays on the ball.

If Callahan stays healthy, he’s an asset to the defense and is one of the last players (considering value vs salary) that fans should think needs to be upgraded.
