Madden Rating Projection: Chase Daniel
What should Chase Daniel be rated on Madden 2019?
Everyone who has plays Madden knows what I am talking when I say the first you do every year when you get the new game is check out the depth charts and look at the player ratings. From there, most fans get upset at the lack of respect for their player.
It would be interesting to see before seeing the rating where he should be to set expectations. Maybe the ratings would not be far off. This series will do that. We are going to look through the Madden rating of every Chicago Bears player, even back up quarterback Chase Daniel.
How do you rate Chase Daniel?
This is where the Madden creators either put no time at all into the rating, or host heated debates about the potential of his rating. Chase Daniel is tough because his job is not to play. He is a career backup and he knows that.
In the past three seasons, he has thrown three passes. So, with his 70 rating in the 2017 version of the game, it is tough to say that the rating of Chase Daniel should or will change.
If I were to make a guess for the game I would say 70. However, I decided to go back through some of his most recent NFL passes. It gives the idea that Daniel may even be lower.
He stayed on his first read far too often and did not show accuracy.
He also lacked a lot of control from the pocket, like the play below. There is no pass rush, but he lets the defender come in on him as he over throws the pass.
The play below defines how limited he is in the speed of the game. He is slow to get off of his first read, he is unsure of where the pass rush is around him and he decides to sit down.
Chase Daniel has one career touchdown and one career interception, has thrown for 481 yards and has made it to age 31 in the NFL.

He knows his job and he does it well. He is a backup. Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace know him and obviously like his football brain and situational football knowledge. That is great on the sideline, and his familiarity and understanding of his role is great for the progression of Trubisky.
However, we are talking about Madden, the video game. The fact is that if you are playing a video game, and Mitchell Trubisky gets hurt you are going to get frustrated, call the game a cheater and turn it off. Chase Daneil is great in the quarterback room, and drawing up ideas on Wednesday. If the Bears need him on Sunday, the season is over.
Madden Projection: 67
Mark Sanchez rated as a 67 last season. The fact of the matter is that while we laugh at Sanchez-I know, the butt fumble-still, his pedigree and play on the football field far exceeds anything Chase Daniel has done on a football field. Familiarity with the system should matter, and Daniel is more athletic than Sanchez. However, 67 is as high as I will go. Go to NFL Game Pass and watch the last 78 attempts Sanchez threw compared to the 78 career attempts from Daniel and tell me if I am wrong.
