5 winners of Chicago Bears OTA mini-camp
4. Roquan Smith
As an extension of Danny Trevathan, Roquan Smith has been a winner this offseason. He has followed Trevathan around the field and mimicked his practice movements. Smith is looking to become a seasoned vet and is watching the veteran to learn how. Trevathan has been happy to assist and the two should be growing excellent chemistry together. This should translate to great chemistry in terms of communication on Sundays.
On top of their outstanding veteran to rookie relationship, the coaching staff has been in awe at how quickly he moves and how effortless he is able to flow sideline to sideline on the football field.
They have also been amazed by his game acumen. Matt Nagy specifically talked up how quickly he processes things mentally and translates them to the football field. You can physically see the game slowing down for him.
The Chicago Bears have already started to flirt with the idea of Smith calling plays. Trevathan already has no problems with handing off that baton. Coming in with no expectations as a rookie and walking out as a potential play caller as a rookie is worthy of being considered a summer winner.
