Where do the Chicago Bears tackle rank compared to the rest of the NFC North?

With the long offseason ahead and minimal moves to be made it is a good time to do some roster evaluation. This series will compare each position group on the Chicago Bears roster to their rivals in the NFC North.

For this edition, we will look at the tackle group. This is based on the two starters and their swing tackle.

4. Minnesota Vikings: Riley Reiff, Mike Remmers, Brian O Neil

Riley Reiff has some name value but has not backed up that play for a while. The Lions moved him from left tackle to the right side when they drafted Taylor Decker. That did not work out well for Reiff.

The Lions moved on, and the division rival Vikings gave him a chance. He had to transition back to the right side and saw the worst season of his career. Now, real questions have to follow him about what level he can play on.

Mike Remmers is most known for being the player that Von Miller put on skates in the Super Bowl when he was with the Carolina Panthers. What is funny is that that season would arguably be the best of his career to date. His last season in Minnesota was not pretty, to say the least, and he caps off a below average starting group.

The team drafted O’Neil high and should have hopes that he can start at right tackle soon. However, he is a former tight end who is a bit small to play tackle. He is a great athlete and has some upside, but is completely raw as of now. It is tough to find optimism from this group.
