63. Tanner Gentry

Tanner Gentry is on the Daniel Braverman route of the NFL. In his rookie season as a UDFA, Bears Nation freaks out over the notion that he may not make the team. From there, he gets cut and signed to the practice squad.

Finally, the Bears receiving corps breaks down and the UDFA rookie gets a chance. From there, no sparks fly and Bears Nation moves onto the next craze. Sounds about right, no?

Gentry likely has a better chance this year than Braverman last year, but that does not mean much to the chances of Gentry making the roster. The fact of the matter is that the new offensive head coach did a major rehaul of the wide receiver position. They added high-end talent, and they added depth.

Gentry was struggling to make the roster with the worst corps in the NFL. Can he make it in a crowded room in year two?

He can if he makes plays like the one below.

Tanner Gentry also brings special teams value. With that, he can attempt to knock off Josh Bellamy.

Still, Bellamy currently has the edge on him there. As a depth splash player with red zone size, he sits behind Kevin White and Javon Wims, a seventh-round rookie. Unlike Braverman, Gentry could be heading to the practice squad for the second straight season. However, it is tough to project him currently making the team.
