4. Deon Bush

When looking at the roster, Deon Bush is going to come into the season as the number three safety. It will be tough for him to move up from that spot. It will also be tough for DeAndre Houston-Carson or Deiondre’ Hall to compete with him for that spot. So, how does he break out?

The NFL is moving more to a sub-package league. Nickel is becoming the base defense, and dime is becoming the first brand of sub-package football. Deon Bush can compete for that dime defensive back role.

Adrian Amos, a secure tackler would slide closer to the line of scrimmage, somewhere he is used to playing. From there, Bush and Jackson would take the deeper portions of the field. Bush can also come in as a matchup player against certain tight ends and running backs.

It may not be a breakout into a starting role. However, Deon Bush played 86 snaps last season. He could quite possibly quadruple that number just by being that third safety. Time will tell.
