Just how good is the Chicago Bears rookie WR? Really good.
Everyone has spent the last few months talking about all the new toys that Ryan Pace has acquired for his star pupil, Mitch Trubisky. Allen Robinson was one of the biggest acquisitions in all of free agency. Trey Burton is ready to breakout. Taylor Gabriel was a smart pickup. But with all the free agency moves, we haven’t heard too much about rookie WR Anthony Miller.
But then training camp began.
Miller has been impressive early. In fact, of all the players on offense, new acquisitions and returning players, Miller might just be the best of the bunch early on.
There are countless videos of Anthony Miller just making Bears’ defenders look bad. But here’s the thing- these Bears’ defenders are good players! This isn’t a revolting defense, it’s very good. The Bears secondary became one of their strengths last season. Miller seemed to shake Prince Amukamara, Kyle Fuller and Bryce Callahan with ease.

Miller’s routes are crisp, his athleticism is outstanding, his speed and quickness are obvious. Miller has looked like a serious player early on and with this type of early showing, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field if this continues.
It’ll be interesting to see if Miller translates this well to preseason games. If he does, Miller is going to earn a starting job opposite Allen Robinson. Regardless of whether Miller is starting week 1, week 9 or week 1 of 2019, it’s pretty clear early on that this guy has a special set of skills.
Whether Miller is starting or just working in on rotations, he’s going to be on the field plenty for this offense and hopefully this camp success is a sign of things to come.
It’s only been one week worth of practices, but right now, it looks like the Bears have a future star in Anthony Miller.
