Cornerback

Quite possibly the biggest surprise was how low Kevin Toliver was on the depth chart. We have heard praise from the coaches at not only OTAs but also through camp so far. Still, he has missed a session or two and did hold UDFA status. It is going to take a lot more than a week to gain respect.

Still, it was surprising to see the name Doran Grant so clearly ahead of him. Doran Grant also got third-string recognition over Sherrick McManis. McManis is known as a special teamer but being so low on the depth chart may be a sign that things are changing.

Lastly, the idea that Sherrick McManis and Kevin Toliver are now behind Grant has to be reassuring to Marcus Cooper. Cre’Von LeBlanc and Bryce Callahan project to the slot, so his lead on the outside cornerback spot has to feel comfortable heading into the preseason. We will see if Toliver can make up more ground.
