2. Bears Can Win The Ground Game

Jordan Howard is not just the best running back in this particular matchup, he’s the best in the division. Amassing 2,435 yards and 15 touchdowns in two seasons, the third year back is ready to dominate after being criticized and hearing trade rumors all offseason.

We just talked about both teams having to adapt to new offenses, but you know what’s not new for the Chicago Bears? Jordan Howard running his way through the opposition on any given Sunday. Add into the attack Tarik Cohen, perhaps the most versatile offensive piece on this roster, and the Bears’ run game is almost unfair.

The Packers have a respectable running back group with Ty Montgomery, Aaron Jones, and Jamaal Williams, but one of the guys I just listed wears No. 88…because he’s a wide receiver. He did dominate the Chicago Bears the last time the teams met, but again, he’s a wide receiver.

Last season both teams were right in the middle of the pack in total rushing, with the Bears ranking 16, and the Packers right behind at 17. With new players for Mitch Trubisky to target, that should take some of the pressure off of Howard and Cohen and should result in more running lanes.

If you can control the ground game you control the clock, and the Bears look as though they can win this running matchup.
