3 reasons Chicago Bears will beat Packers in Week 1
1. The Defensive Scale Leans Towards Chicago
Before this offseason, the Bears far and away had the better defense. After the Packers made a rather low-key signing of Muhammad Wilkerson, their defensive front definitely intimidates.
On the other hand, the Bears’ defensive front is equally, if not, more impressionable than Green Bay’s. Akiem Hicks is one of the best interior linemen in the league, and Eddie Goldman plugs in better than anyone right next to him. Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark are REALLY good and can be just as forceful as Hicks and Goldman. But on the outside with Leonard Floyd, and in the middle with Roquan Smith and Danny Trevathan is where the Bears continue to separate.

The linebackers for the Packers just aren’t as good as they were when Clay Matthews was in his prime and that hair was gleaming. HaHa Clinton-Dix has proven he’s a very reliable safety but Adrian Amos was ranked as the NFL’s second-best safety behind Minnesota’s Harrison Smith.
New defensive backs Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson are going to be really good at some point, but they are still rookies coming into Mike Pettine’s new defense. Much like the Packers’ offense, the defense will be learning a new playbook while most of the players in Chicago and their tenth ranked defense will be in their fourth year with Vic Fangio.
Both defenses will be fun to watch, but the Bears with their experience and continuity have the edge.
