LB. 1980-87. Otis Wilson. 25. player. 57.

The more you read this piece, the more you begin to realize just how special the Bears defense was in the mid 1980’s. With talent all over the field, particularly in their front-seven, linebacker Otis Wilson has a case for being one of the best players in franchise history.

Wilson was one of the best pass rushers in the NFL during his career and he made most of that impact as a member of the Bears.

While teammate Mike Singletary directed most of the chaos from a scheme standpoint, Wilson was often free to delivery punishing hits to opposing quarterbacks.

During the team’s Super Bowl run in 1985, Wilson recorded 10.5 sacks and three interceptions, helping him to land the first and only Pro Bowl selection of his entire career. For as good as he was, that’s surprising to say the least.

As you’ll see in reading the rest of the way, Wilson being in the top-25 of our list of the greatest players in Bears history is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, particularly with some of the company he was surrounded by over the course of his career.
