3. Six Outside Linebackers

This is not necessarily too surprising. When Kasim Edebali went down with an injury in Preseason Week Four, it seemed pretty clear who the five Chicago Bears were that were going to make the 53-man roster. Leonard Floyd, Sam Acho, Aaron Lynch, Kylie Fitts and Isaiah Irving were all worth keeping around given the questions in talent and depth.

Of course, the sixth outside linebacker turned out to be a huge surprise. Khalil Mack was the apparent surprise addition. However, it is worth noting that the team did take away from other spots to continue to have that depth at outside linebacker.

It helps when John Timu and Jonathan Anderson continually gave you reasons to move on from them on the inside. In keeping four inside linebackers, the Bears have ten linebackers on the roster, a somewhat standard total.Still, hanging onto Fitts and Irving was smart. The Chicago Bears were savvy to maneuver their roster elsewhere and now should have depth and talent to make this a strength of a unit.
