6. Tanner Gentry
The fan favorite Tanner Gentry is back on the practice squad for the second straight season. He has finally eclipsed Daniel Braverman status. Jokes aside, Tanner Gentry has brought special teams value that is going to keep the Chicago Bears interested.
The fact of the matter is that while many fans hate Josh Bellamy as a receiver, his ability on special teams wins him a job. Tanner Gentry took strides but did not beat out Bellamy on special teams.
Gentry may be a better wide receiver than Bellamy. However, in keeping Javon Wims, they have five active receivers over Bellamy as well. If Gentry is going to make that push for a roster spot, it would be on special teams.
It will be tough for Gentry to earn snaps while on the practice squad. However, their faith in him in that area is why he is here and not in Braverman territory. If a receiver were to go down, the team would at least feel comfortable in Gentry because he brings value to one unit.
