5. Abdullah Anderson

Abdullah Anderson is a former basketball player in high school turned NFL player. He was under-recruited due to lack of experience and ended up at Bucknell. However, with his basketball background, Abdullah Anderson features strong footwork despite the frame of a defensive tackle.

Anderson is still raw in his abilities. However, he has shown enough upside and has demonstrated that footwork and explosion as a defensive tackle that is worth buying into.

As for the 53-man roster, Anderson does have a path to making it. He can play the nose tackle position. In moving on from John Jenkins, and keeping Nick Williams, they took the more versatile player over the nose tackle. They likely did this with the idea in mind that Anderson can step into that nose tackle role down the line.

Do not be surprised if the 2019 Chicago Bears defensive line group is the same five with Anderson over Nick Williams as the sixth.
