3. Jonathon Mincy

With Joseph being so raw and needing a full year on the practice squad, it was probably wise of the team to hang onto a more experienced cornerback in Jonathon Mincy. Mincy has not spent much time in the NFL, but he does have professional experience.

The Chicago Bears brought Mincy in from the CFL after he bounced around a few training camps. Mincy started slow, but as the preseason progressed began to make noise.

Mincy is staying around almost solely due to what he can bring to the slot. When the Chicago Bears kept Marcus Cooper over Cre’Von LeBlanc, they lost a lot more experience in the slot. If Bryce Callahan were to go down, there would be serious issues in that regard.

That would be the time to call on Jonathon Mincy. As a replacement for Callahan, he deserves just as much a chance in the slot as Marcus Cooper. For now, he is a valued practice squad player.
