Allen Robinson usage

We did not get to see any Allen Robinson in the preseason. That was completely fair given his ACL injury and his recovery period. However, it did warrant at least a little concern or skepticism about what exactly he could bring to the table. So far, he has yet to disappoint.

In his first game, he was targeted seven times, bringing home four passes for 61 yards. The following week, a whopping 14 targets and ten receptions for 83 yards. Especially early into games, Mitchell Trubisky likes to test cornerbacks on Robinson in one-on-one matchups. Robinson has been a huge reason as to why the team has been able to get down the field and score early.

What has been most impressive about his success is that he is lining up all over the field. Look at his route charts below. The slot on either side, either side, he is lining up wherever he can find a matchup and get open.

It seems as though Mitchell Trubisky has found him as a safety blanket and a player to latch onto. This does not appear to be changing any time soon, as Trubisky slower starts to navigate the NFL. Robinson should only get healthier and more understanding of his quarterbacks habits. This could turn into something special between these two.
