Khalil Mack is once again in a matchup where he can have a big game for the Chicago Bears

When new Chicago Bears rusher Khalil Mack beat up on Bryan Bulaga, who has been a well-regarded tackle in this league, it should have been known that every week was going to be a plus matchup for Khalil Mack. However, the next two weeks have presented some strong matchups for Khalil Mack.

First, Germain Ifedi with the Seattle Seahawks. Now, he gets to face Andre Smith, who will be making his second start in a Cardinal uniform on Sunday. Smith is 31 years old and once was regarded as a talented tackle.

However, injury has depleted his career, and Smith has missed 30 starts over the past five seasons. With that, he was released by the Bengals, picked up the Vikings, released by them, brought back to the Bengals and once again released.

Smith was not impressive in his first start and was responsible for giving up a sack on Sunday. The play is linked here. You can see that Andre Smith is beat by second-year rotational rusher Ryan Anderson.

In that clip, you could also see that about the same time that it took Anderson to breeze by Andre Smith, D.J. Humphries was being beaten by Pernell McPhee of all people.

The fact that Pernell McPhee is beating Humphries for sacks has to be a bad thing for the Cardinals. This has to be a good sign for Leonard Floyd right?

The Chicago Bears should also be able to blitz at D.J. Humphries with success. Humphries originally played at left tackle and had just seven starts at left tackle. The spot is new to him.

Against the Los Angeles Rams, they were able to get home against Sam Bradford thanks to a well-timed blitz against D.J. Humphries. The play is linked here.

Mark Barron, 41, blitzed up the middle. Samson Ebukam, 50, comes in off of the edge. It looks as though David Johnson thinks that Humphries will protect the edge against Edbukam, as he prepares to step across the line and drive a shoulder into Mark Barron. However, Humphries picked up Barron, thinking Johnson was flaring out to the flats and would pick up the edge rusher with a chip.

Whoever is at fault, these are the communication issues that will be had with a player moving positions and playing with a new quarterback.

Roquan Smith serves as immediate upgrade. dark. Next

Sam Bradford has just been sacked three times this season. Two of them are directly correlated to the Arizona Cardinals tackles. The Chicago Bears outside rush just went from a weakness to a strength overnight. Now, they should be taking advantage of mismatches like this one.
