1. Kevin Toliver II

Kevin Toliver was by no means exceptional in this matchup. He was targeted ten times and allowed five catches for 70 yards which isn’t great. However, the undrafted rookie did not miss any tackles and led the team with seven total tackles.

His outing was about what you’d might expect for an undrafted rookie, but it could have gone a lot worse, especially when facing the top offense coming into the game. Toliver made some nice pass breakups against star receiver Mike Evans at times, which is a sound feat. At one point, Toliver indeed disrupted Evans’ ability to catch the ball and stood over the receiver, flexing his muscle after the play. Teammate Kyle Fuller had to come over to the rookie to warn him he’d better respect those who have put in the work in this league or he’ll suffer the repercussions.

Maybe Evans isn’t the guy Toliver should be sizing up, but his moxie impresses me and Vic Fangio might have another talented cornerback to groom.
