5 Underrated Performances from Bears’ Blowout
5. Kevin White
Fourth-year receiver Kevin White was not targeted once, did not have a catch, returned no kicks and you’ll be hard-pressed to find his name in any portion of the box score. However, there may not have been another player who had as memorable a moment than Kevin White’s block to help free Tarik Cohen on a screen pass.
In case you’ve yet to see it here’s the play
While White’s production is both visibly and tangibly just not there, it’s more the mental aspect of his play that impresses me most. As a first-round pick who’s been scrutinized and called a bust perhaps more than any other player the last four seasons, his belief in the team and the process hasn’t wavered and that speaks to how coach Matt Nagy has helped bring this team together.
White was pretty impactful with his blocks throughout the game and will continue to find playing time in similar roles if he continues to put in the effort. The season still has a lot of time to unfold so I’m sure Nagy will find a way to use his gritty receiver in various packages. Kevin White may have faded from stardom but as long as he’s healthy, he really values playing football for this team.
