The Chicago Bears are 3-1 at the quarter pole and Johnathan Wood gives it his unique statistical analysis.

The Chicago Bears had a week off, but that doesn’t mean Bears Banter did! What better way to look back on the first quarter of the season than with Johnathan Wood of Da Bears Blog. JW is the best statistical analyst in all of Bears Twitter and he spent some time with us to see how the Bears have played through four games.

This isn’t your dad’s statistics. JW isn’t looking at yards per carry and passer rating, he has unique stats for every aspect of the team offensively, defensively, and even some unique things about Matt Nagy and how he is utilizing his offensive weapons!

That is some compelling information courtesy of Johnathan Wood. Too many interesting things to breakdown in just a couple of paragraphs, but it’s interesting to see that Matt Nagy is lining up Taylor Gabriel, Allen Robinson and Trey Burton everywhere to create tons of different match-ups for the offense. Also good to see that perhaps Jordan Howard isn’t struggling as much as his 3.2 yards per carry average suggest.

Defensively, the Bears pass rush gets all the love, and for good reason, but great to see how well this team is defending the run, and that the secondary is also playing extremely well. A great defense isn’t just a pass rush, the Bears are succeeding in multiple aspects which means this defense isn’t going anywhere. And if the defense keeps playing like this, there’s no reason to think the Bears won’t be playoff contenders all season long.
