This is the most important thing the Chicago Bears must do to earn another victory on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears are off to a great 3-1 start, but they have a very important game coming up against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. On the surface, it doesn’t seem like a big deal, if they drop to 3-2, they are still in a position to be in first place in the division and would have a winning record.

However, if you look ahead in the schedule, you’ll see the next game is against the New England Patriots. That’s not a guaranteed loss, especially considering the game is in Chicago, but it certainly won’t be easy. A loss to Miami could end up being a two-game losing streak and a Bears’ tumble to .500.

The Bears need to make sure they aren’t looking ahead to the Patriots and focus on Miami. Miami got off to a 3-0 start but stumbled losing their last two games. The Dolphins looked very different in their last two games versus their first three, so the Bears aren’t certain which team is showing up on Sunday.

The Bears defense should be able to contain the Dolphins offense pretty well. Ryan Tannehill (who is questionable) doesn’t perform well when he’s facing a strong pass rush and the Dolphins’ offensive line isn’t exactly impenetrable. You can expect the Bears to force Tannehill into some mistakes and stop the Dolphins running game.

If the Dolphins’ offense is going to struggle, the key is going to be for the Bears’ offense to make sure they do enough to earn the victory. That is going to come down to Jordan Howard and the running game.

It’s going to be approaching 90 degrees in Miami on Sunday with high humidity. That means it’s going to be easy to for the Bears to get winded in the second half. It’ll be the offense’s job to keep the defense off the field to keep them fresh.

To do that, the Bears are going to need to utilize Jordan Howard and dominate the line of scrimmage. The Dolphins run defense has struggled the last two games. Sony Michel had 25 carries for 112 yards for the Patriots and Joe Mixon had 22 carries for 93 yards for the Bengals.

The stage is set for the Bears offensive line to mow down a Dolphins defensive line that won’t have Cameron Wake, dominate the line of scrimmage and get Howard going. If the Bears do this, Howard could have 20 carries and go over 100 yards on the ground.

The Bears shouldn’t rely on Mitch Trubisky to have another giant game, especially on the road, in the heat, against a secondary that can force turnovers. Take the pressure off Mitch, and put the pressure on the Dolphins’ front seven to contain Howard and a running game that is in a good position to be in store for a big day.

The Bears should be able to churn up yards on the ground, dominate time of possession again, and keep the defense fresh. If that happens, the Bears should win comfortably.
