Chicago Bears: Hobbled Khalil Mack gets back up right tackle
The Chicago Bears come into their matchup with the New England Patriots concerned about the health status of Khalil Mack. However, more concerning is the Patirots issue at right tackle
Khalil Mack is dealing with an ankle injury. We saw it impact his productiveness in the loss to the Miami Dolphins where the Dolphins sat clean in the pocket.
While Khalil Mack did not practice Thursday he did get back on the field on Friday and is listed as questionable. Khalil Mack has yet to miss an NFL game in his career. Given that Mack was able to play through it, and that the tape does not show it to being too severe, it would be a shock if he did not play.
On top of that, Adam Schefter said on the radio Friday morning that Mack would be playing. Certainly he needs to wake up on Saturday morning and see how he feels, he is not going to do much on Saturday as that is a walk through.
Still, even if it is an 80% Mack, Mack is going to play and at 80% is probably still one of the five best pass rushers in the NFL. What makes this an even better situation is that the New England Patriots starting right tackle is banged up.
In fact, Marcus Cannon has already been ruled out for the game. They are going to rely on LaAdrian Waddle at right tackle, who has five starts in four seasons with the Patriots.
A banged up Mack against a healthy Waddle is a win for Khalil Mack. We will see just how healthy he is in a situation where he could have a really big game.
