Kicker Cody Parkey connected on a 46-yard field goal and made all four of his extra-point attempts, while punter Pat O’Donnell averaged 43.3 yards per punt and landed one inside the 20-yard line. Nick Kwiatkoski did force a fumble on a kickoff, which was recovered by DeAndre Houston-Carson—this led to a touchdown. However, the two touchdowns surrendered by the special teams unit were the major eyesores of this game.

After a Howard two-yard touchdown run the second quarter, Patriots kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, cutting the Bears’ lead to three points. In the third quarter, Ben Braunecker was ran over on a punt, allowing New England to block the punt and have Kyle Van Noy return it for another special teams touchdown.
