Hot Take Tuesday: The Incoherent Rantings of a Belligerent Bears fan.
Last year the Chicago Bears won 5 of 16 games.
This year the Chicago Bears have won 5 of 8 games.
That’s a pretty significant turnaround in one season- but not for the meatheads.
This past week was apparently Slam Mitch Trubisky Week. Not from meathead fans, but from meathead analysts. Yes, that’s right, it’s time for the national media to chime in again with their sizzling Trubisky takes.
Hey folks, let's base our Mitch Trubisky arguments on Box Score Stats and pretend they aren't full of screen and shovel pass touchdowns! That will lead to accurate evaluations!
— Mike Tanier (@MikeTanier) November 1, 2018
Tanier seemingly led the charge of ridiculousness, but guys like Gregg Rosenthal and Bill Barnwell dogged the Bears’ QB as well. Barnwell actually speculated that Trubisky may not be on the Bears after his third year. I refuse to dignify that with a link to such a terrible article, the man doesn’t even deserve clicks.

I engaged Tanier and, unsurprisingly he responded with insults and called me stupid. What’s stupid is his stance that Trubisky only gets TD passes on shovel passes and screens. That number is five, by the way, the same total that Tom Brady has with a similar amount of TD passes.
Look, we all know Trubisky is making mistakes, but these knuckleheads want to blow up every mistake as a reason for bust status and ignore the strides he’s making. Analysts are literally making gifs of incomplete passes to make their points. How about we watch the kid develop?
Trubisky is on pace for 4000 yards and 32 TD passes. Not to mention his skills with his legs. Are we really going to say that it’s not Mitch at all? Because if that’s the case, you better be ready to call Matt Nagy a certified genius. It’s ridiculous and exhausting.
Buffalo Soldiers
You know what’s awesome? Taking an NFL team behind the woodshed and slaughtering them by halftime and still have fans pissing and moaning. The defense destroyed this team to the point that the offense had to do very little. The offense did nothing flashy, went pretty conservative and just tried to keep the ball and keep the chains moving some. The defense shined: two defensive scores, a boatload of turnovers, pressures on Nathan Peterman, and instead of focusing on how the team slaughtered their second team of the year, some fans focus on Trubisky or Jordan Howard’s yard per carry.
The Bears are third in point differential! Enjoy the fact that the team is turning the corner. What is wrong with some Bears fans? Reading the comments section of many of these articles just makes me want to weep. The Bears are 5-3. They aren’t a lock to win the division or make the playoffs, but they are a lock to play meaningful football in December and could leap to being a Super Bowl contender in 2019. Enjoy it!

- Adam Shaheen is very close to playing, could be a nice bump to the offense.
- The Bears need to go 3-1 in their next four if they want to win the division, that’ll put them in good shape for the home stretch. Critical month for the Bears to prove they’re for real.
