It sounds as if Allen Robinson is going to start for the Chicago Bears. What is the impact of bringing him back?

While the Chicago Bears have survived without Allen Robinson it was a pleasant surprise to see that he is practicing fully and likely to play on Sunday. This will be important for the Bears offense as they try to click on all cylinders for a playoff push.

It is also huge within the specific matchup of taking on the Detroit Lions .Darius Slay usually takes on the teams best wide receiver for Detroit. Slay has been stellar in recent years, and can usually force teams to go the lesser matchup. When Taylor Gabriel is the center of attention on a player such as Slay, it is tough for him and other players to beat their coverage.

However, when Slay is wrapped up with Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel will be able to take advantage of the lesser coverage. The addition of Robinson is extremely impactful for Gabriel.

On top of that, Robinson may be able to have some success. When looking at Slay’s stats this season, he has not been as dominant this year as he has in others.

He is really struggling with out routes and slant routes. Teams are 12-15 when targeting Slay on these routes for two touchdowns, and over nine yards per target.

On the other side, Mitch Trubisky is 5-5 targeting Robinson on outs and slants. Robinson is averaging over 11 yards per target on slants.

Can Jordan Howard go over 100 yards?. dark. Next

Look for the Bears to attack Slay early with slant routes to Allen Robinson. The Bears should be able to open up some deep passing off of that, and with Taylor Gabriel facing weaker coverage, he could be in for a bigger game.

The impact of Allen Robinson is extremely significant.
