Punter Pat O’Donnell’s average of 48.0 yards per punt and his long of 59 yards was a good thing for Chicago’s special teams unit. However, that was overshadowed by numerous miscues. Kicker Cody Parkey had a day he and many Bears fans would love to forget. Parkey missed two field goal attempts, and two extra points—with all four misses hitting the upright.

After scoring a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, the Lions attempted an onside kick, and Anthony Miller opted to swat the ball out of bounds instead of recovering it. That action was one of two offsetting penalties, which resulted in a re-kick that Detroit recovered. The Lions went on to score a touchdown on the ensuing drive.
