The Chicago Bears win saw Leonard Floyd rack up the first sack of his season

Three weeks ago, Leonard Floyd was getting bust talk for his lackluster performance against the New England Patriots. Some started to criticize his sack numbers, as he had yet to record one.

However, Floyd was playing a different role, and the Patriots game saw his most pass rushing reps. While he did not do too much the following week, Floyd got a pick-six against the Buffalo Bills. The ball deflected to him, but he made the play and converted it into points.

Matt Nagy mentioned that week that he felt making the play took some pressure off of Floyd. That he had been a bit too focused on the sack numbers that it was taking away from his actual job.

However, after making the play, and clearing his conscious, Floyd may have been playing looser. It showed as he continued to trend upward with a sack.

It is interesting to note that early into the season, Khalil Mack was taking on right tackles. However, when Mack went down, the team moved Floyd over to that side. The two flipped sides against Detroit throughout the game, however, Floyd stayed on the offenses right side often. That is where his sack came.

It will be interesting to follow the usage as the weeks go on. Floyd is hot and trending up. If h can build off of this performance the way in which he built off the interception last week, he could be in for big second half of his 2018 season.
