Another quarterback selected

The Chicago Bears, after a rough 4-12 season, sit with the fifth pick in the draft. Pace has his sights set on Sam Darnold, but he knows the Jets are also interested in moving up. Pace doesn’t want to lose out on the QB he wants so he’s forced to make a big trade, just to move up two spots, he’s forced to trade his second round pick in 2018 and 2019, plus his third round pick in 2018. Fans hate the move thinking Pace gave up way too much, but he knows he needs a big-time QB and he selects Darnold.

The Bears don’t have another selection now until the fourth round. They see talented young players such as Roquan Smith, James Daniels and Anthony Miller come off the board, but Pace just doesn’t have the draft capital to move up and select any of those players. They stand pat and make their selections when they are on the clock.
